If you want to enjoy healthy exercise while discovering new places rich in wildlife, culture and history, and you´ve come to expect very high standards of food and accommodation, this holiday is for you.

A first night in Segovia city, World Heritage Site, to discover its famous Roman Aqueduct and stunning Cathedral and Castle. Then four days of gentle walks along drove roads and country lanes of extraordinary beauty, staying at three exquisitely charming rural hotels.

Itinerary description

  • Day 1 Arrival at the world heritage city of Segovia and a chance to discover its beautifully preserved roman aqueduct, impressive cathedral and 18th century Castle.
  • City tour.

  • Day 2 Short transfer to the mountain village of Navafría to enjoy exploring this small charming rural hamlet and settle into the family run hotel "Posada Mingaseda" (breakfast and dinner included).
  • City tour and village walk.

  • Day 3 Walk along the Cañada Real Segoviana (ancient drove road) towards the small village of Requijada (breakfast, picnic lunch and dinner included).
    15 Km walk

  • Day 4 Stunning walk along old country lanes from Requijada to the beautiful, medieval town of Pedraza (breakfast, and picnic lunch included).
    13 Km walk

  • Day 5 Gentle, circular walk along historic country tracks to visit the typical villages and the Romanesque church of San Marcos (breakfast and picnic lunch included).
    12 Km walk

  • Day 6 One last walk along ancient drovers tracks through a stunning juniper forest to the mountain village of Gallegos (breakfast, picnic lunch and dinner included).
  • 10 Km walk

  • Day 7 Return (breakfast included).
  • Optional extra nights in Pedraza, Segovia or Madrid can be booked for you.

 

The Hotels:

    • Hostería Ayala Berganza, Segovia: A protected XVth century Castilian palace in the center of the stunning, historical town of Segovia. Situated only a few minutes walk from the famous 2000 yr old roman aqueduct. Seventeen carefully decorated rooms, common reading room and gardens. The service is warm and attentive and English is spoken.

 

    • Posada Real Mingaseda, Navafría : A mountain village house, renovated in rustic style. 14 magnificent bedrooms decorated with love. Restaurant, gardens, comfortable living rooms. A friendly Spanish family from the village run this hotel very well indeed.

    • Posada de las Vegas, Requijada : Traditional building in an isolated village of extraordinary beauty. Only six double rooms with all the creature comforts and decorated to a high standard with a lot of attention to detail. Own restaurant. English not spoken but very friendly owners very willing to understand.
    • Hostería del Arco, Pedraza: Located in the beautifully preserved medieval town of Pedraza, this rural hotel combines comfort with old Castilian rustic style. Ten very comfortable rooms and dining room, beautiful inner courtyard and bar. English not spoken, but friendly staff very willing to understand.



    • La Data, Gallegos :
      Small rural hotel full of character. Eleven comfortable bedrooms imaginatively decorated. Common areas include dining room, living room, terrace and gardens. Excellent host who speaks English.

  • Which airport should I fly to? Madrid international airport.
  • How do I get to the Starting Point? Catch an AVE (High Speed Train) from Madrid to Segovia (9€, takes 25mins).
    How do I get back to Madrid? Book our local transfer From Gallegos to Segovia (35€, takes 35mins) and catch an AVE (High Speed Train) back into Madrid (9€, takes 25mins).
